She’s So Rad is a four piece act of Jeremy Toy, Anji Sami (The Sami Sisters), Tom Healy (The Verlaines) and John Parker (The Brunettes).
She’s So Rad have been playing in New Zealand and Australia and the UK since the release of their first album ‘In Circles’ in August 2011 opening for bands like ‘Unknown Mortal Orchestra’ and ‘Ghostwave’ and also headlining club nights in Auckland and Sydney, A Low Hum - Flying Nun Tribute Night, 95bFM ‘in session’ & bStreet.
2012 saw them open for ‘Ladyhawke’ in the U.K. and perform at club nights in London with ‘Coves’ and ‘It Hug’s Back’.
She’s So Rad have support from New Zealand bNet radio, student radio network. They have had 4 of their songs in the 95bFM (Auckland) top ten and also in the Radio One (Dunedin) top eleven.
The bands new album is to be released on their own label, From The Crate Records, in June 2013. Recorded by Jeremy Toy in his own studio that is part of ‘The Lab’ recording studio in Auckland. ‘The Lab’ is a staple of the studio scene in Auckland having record such acts as ‘Dimmer’, ‘Die! Die! Die!, and ‘The Naked and Famous’. The new album, as heard in the two tracks released from the record, ‘Confetti’ and ‘Time’, is a sonic step forward for the band. The first album was very much a lo-fi sonic tribute to 90’s shoegaze bands that Jeremy loved. The new album will have every sonic covered. Mixing duties have been performed by Tony Hoffer (M83, Beck, Air) and also by Dave Cooley (Silversun Pickups, Birds Of Tokyo, J Dilla, Madlib).
This year ‘She’s So Rad’ will be out on tour in Australia and New Zealand with plans to release the new album in Australia and distributed in France with French label ‘Wall Street Artists’. In the interim, She’s So Rad are releasing an E.P. of disco songs, outtakes from their sophomore album, as a worldwide release via Wonderful Noise (Japan) and in France via Wall Street Artists label.
